The first out of four split singles to be released monthly starting from now. With 'Great Power', I wanted it to be backed by a track that had that dark brooding passion behind it. 'Branches' is my good friend Alex Periera and his band Every Atlas kindly giving us a sneak peek of what's to come in store for the band and one of my favourite songwriters.

released May 20, 2013

Track Name: George Gadd - Great Power
You brought the bricks to watch our boat sink
and wrote our names in blood with invisible ink
you took the time to analyse the pain
and kept the secret safe, locked in your brain

the birthday cake bled out your history
where we stowed away the kingdom's fatal key
you brainstormed battles, thought all of this was fake
and left a note behind as a keepsake

i'm feeling better than i used to be
though the angles don't align, doesn't make much sense to me

you broke the bread and drank up all the wine
and threw up posion all over the shrine
your backup bride was caught mixing her drinks
holy water thinned with ink

but you lost track of who you were
painting white lies on your green eyes
go rule your abyss, with an iron fist
break the shackles, flood the village
break the shackles, flood the villager
take the reigns and drown the cynics
Track Name: Every Atlas - Branches (Acoustic Demo)
Open up your eyes
To see right through my skin
It's a dream I can't deny
To separate my sin
You gotta let me in

The ropes, they came undone
Relinquished all my fears
But you saved that smoking gun
To call back through the years

But your love grew like branches
To the trees, endlessly
Pray to some kind of fable
You believe, set you free
Crawl out of the sunlight
Burn your eyes, bound my feet
Say your goodbyes
Echoing, everything, glory be

You carved into that rock
Some dead and forgotten language
When the animals all rot
We will both remain
I only told the truth
But the truth is constantly changing
And if I ever die
We can gauge its' reaction

But your arms grew like branches
To the trees, settling
Pray you're actually able
To retrieve all you see
Sleep fast for the moonlight
Beckoning in my dreams
Say your goodbyes...

We piled our baskets full
And walked for twenty years
You are not my God,
I've already been here
