Last Orders 02:58
they're calling last orders again but it's probably for the best i'm still healing, on the mend i've bottled up most of my life try and compartmentalise I'm on the wrong end of 25 it's not selfish to want to get better bit my lip 'til the skin broke off i don't care for the changing weather hold me down, til the breathing stops looking for life in the eyes i've been awake all night I'm on the run with no disguise

CVG 02:50
drop me off at CVG my hands between my knees waiting for the intercom to tear me away from here I never feel more at home than when i'm away but i miss it all the time struggling to stay awake on the way to Indiana careening off the road toward the dirt when I woke you up I hope you got your shit together and stopped living out of your car but we do what we do to survive at the party where you cheated on your girlfriend three times I went upstairs but wish I said something to you in hindsight what an awful lying sack of shit you turned out to be I felt complicit witnessing drunk dialling different timezones wrote it down on my palm on the ride home

about

Nottingham's George Gadd + the Aftermath play an eclectic hybrid of folk, emo and punk (or in their words "folk punk for punk folk"). Their heart on sleeve singalong songs usually rouse a crowd which is further complimented by Gadd's unique sense of humour. Throughout the years, George has picked up support slots playing alongside the likes of The Front Bottoms, Ferocious Dog, Charlie Simpson, Kevin Devine, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. and The Xcerts.

'Last Orders' and 'CVG' are energetic, bouncy and aggressive with the band channeling scrappier influences like Joyce Manor, The Get Up Kids and Los Campesinos!.

To help achieve this rawer punk sound, the band enlisted Phil Booth (JT Soar) and Rich Collins (Snug Recording) to engineer and mix the songs as their previous work had included Martha, Toodles & the Hectic Pity.

'Last Orders' takes a long, hard look in the mirror with a chorus which screams "it's not selfish to wanna get better". The song's lyrical themes of redemption, reflection and healing take the forefront over a backdrop of bratty distorted guitars and aggressive drums.

'CVG' carries on this uptempo trend going straight into the track. The song taking its name from the airport code for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport was inspired by a series of vignettes about Gadd's time working in Cincinnati. Channeling influences as far reaching as The Housemartins, Modern Baseball and Los Campesinos!. The song features all the ingredients for a classic Aftermath staple, bouncing synth/glock melody, chaotic key/time changes topped with a classic singalong chorus.
